DR. MILLAR'S JOURNEY TO FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE

 After Dr. Millar personally became very ill, he searched traditional medicine for answers and found functional medicine. After becoming very ill, he went from doctor to doctor, from local doctors to UAB doctors, to Vanderbilt doctors, with nothing except more test and more medications, that did not help him. At one point they said, "it was in my head."  The more he searched the more frustrated he became with traditional medicine. Dr. Millar said, "They had no answers. All they wanted to do was give me another pill - put me on more meds that did not fix my problem. I was sick and getting worse with no help in sight. I had to quit work."

At Mayo Clinic, after more testing and looking over all the test results, they referred him to Cleveland Clinic for Functional Medicine. They tested his DNA. They tested him for viruses, gut pathogens, parasites, and bacteria (good and bad), They tested him for toxins, heavy metals, glyphosate, mold and fungus. They tested him for food allergies and sensitivities. Dr. Millar said, "Even though insurance didn't pay for tests or treatment, I had to get my life back. I was through if I didn't." 

     Walla, it turns out one of the root causes of Dr. Millar's problems was some dental work that he had right before he became ill. A dentist removed 7 old amalgam fillings ("Guys I'm over 70 so those were old fillings.") and the dentist didn't have the proper equipment to control the lead and mercury. He also had cavitation's from teeth that were pulled years ago. He had mercury and lead heavy metal toxicity. But he also had mold biotoxins and chemical toxins. Fixing the gut took a long time but they finally killed the C-Diff and fixed the IBS and SIBO. Next was removal of food allergies and sensitivities. The panic attacks and anxiety stopped and then they reversed his autoimmune diseases. Slowly he started feeling better and better. "It's like my life started slowly coming back, said Dr. Millar.
