Welcome to Millar Functional Medicine FAQ

The basic answer is No. BCBS does not pay for functional medicine. Patients with BCBS are self-pay. BCBS may pay for some of the blood, urine and stool testing in rare instances. We are not in network with BCBS but can order some test from an in network BCBS lab. In the past they have paid for some limited testing. Many patients however find it cheaper to just pay our cash price for test. 

Again Medicare does not cover functional medicine. All Millar Functional Medicine doctors are not Medicare providers, we are non-participating. Patients on Medicare must sign a self-pay agreement.  

Again the VA or Tricare do not cover functional medicine. All Millar Functional Medicine doctors are not VA or Tricare providers. Patients with VA or Tricare must sign a self-pay agreement.  

You can start as a Therapy Patient and only do therapies such as Red Light Therapy, Standard and Signature Premium IV's, Regenerative Medicine, Ozone Therapy, Laser Therapy and many more see Services - Therapy Patient. OR

You can start as a Functional Medicine Patient. Here you are treated by the doctor each visit for your functional medicine problem. As a Functional Medicine patient you can get all the therapies a Therapy Patient gets plus treatments such as Functional Medicine IV's only fo   

We offer all new Functional Medicine patients a free consultation* office visit meeting with the doctor to discuss your problems and our possible solutions. This is a 30 minute meeting to meet us and size us up and a time for you to tell us what is going on with you and time for us to discuss if we can help you.

We offer all Therapy Patients a free 10-15 minute discovery call with the doctor to discuss our therapies and what therapies you might be interested in trying. 

** We charge a $30 scheduling fee for the Free Consultation. If you decide to become a patient, we give you credit for the $30. If you don't become a patient, we refund your $30 on the spot after your Free Consultation. If you don't show for your Free Consultation appointment or you're 30 min late you forfeit the $30. We do this because we block 30 minutes in our schedule for your Free Consultation appointment and if you don't show up then others can't get in to see the Doctor. 

If you decide to go forward then we start the intake process. The intake cost $330 and covers 3-4 intake office visits. We will ask you to fill out our extensive 45+ page intake questionnaire as well as keep a log of food eaten, your stool and your sleep. This includes some intake testing like Urinalysis, Toxicity test, and Minerals test. Most people apply their $30 scheduling fee to this intake fee for a net due of $300. Next comes the MFM Functional Physical Exam. 

Next comes the The MFM Functional Physical Examination. The cost of Exam is $150. We'll do a fully clothed functional physical medical exam. Most of our patients tell us that our exam is the most thorough exam they have ever had in their lifetime. Next we will prepare a detailed written report of our findings. 

In the Report of Findings visit we will give you a detailed report of what we found along with a list of your diagnosis and our functional treatment plan. We will also give you a disclosure of what test are needed and the cost of each test; what treatment we recommend and the cost of that treatment; and what supplement, IV,  injections or other we treatment we think you need and the cost. We will then together decided how fast you want to treat your problem(s) based upon your budget.  

For most patients after they have paid for and completed the intake sequence they can expect an out of pocket cost of between $1500 to $2500 for a single problem. We offer no interest written payment plans for all treatment programs. We offer a bookkeeping discount of 10-15% for those that pay for their treatment up front. We also have a one year Optimal Health VIP program available where we include all of our treatment programs. and VIP access.
